There are exactly as many paths to enlightenment as there are people, and everyone’s lesson plan lies before them as helpers, healers, books, and ideas come to us just as we are ready for them. And with that I would like to suggest and encourage everyone to seek out healing in whatever form it calls to us.
Living here in Sedona I meet many who have consciously chosen a spiritual path. Many have been seekers their whole lives. This has not been my path. My path of seeking was through art and science, seeking to understand the human psyche. Along the way I stumbled into a deep spirituality. And I have come to believe that healing is the most important step in the enlightenment process, and one that many people, including many spiritual seekers have neglected.
There are many people who have spent their lives seeking enlightenment and too many of these have chosen to bypass healing. Yet this part of the process is crucial. Our unhealed wounds keep us down. It is no wonder we try to skip this step; healing requires facing ourselves, being vulnerable, allowing ourselves to feel the pain of past and present wounds. Sometimes it can feel like a pandoras box, or worse, an abyss of pain from which there is no way out. Or just a step out of our comfort zone and spiritual superiority. But those unhealed wounds weigh us down, they take energy to resist, and they cause us to behave in ways that are unloving, whether we choose to recognize it or not.
As scary as it may seem, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We have so many modalities available to us now to revisit, heal and forgive the past. I am not saying it is easy, but it is worth it. The greater the risk you take, the more the reward in forgiveness, love and peace of mind. All aspects of your life are healed in this way. I hope that you will all choose in this new year to recommit to the self healing process. And of course, I am available to help.
Wishing you all Love and light in the New Year!
